WEMUSIC - UNIVERSITY PROJECT

INTRODUCTION:

The idea for the application created in this module was to produced a platform that depending on the weather data, would play a random preset song though the YouTube API, while also displaying a custom weather UI using the Open Weather Map API. My idea behind the application came from the idea of an advanced theme weather app that would do more than just show you the current weather.

What does it do?

The application uses the devices network/GPS sensors to access the current latitude and longitude of said device, and pass this on to the API. Using this location data in conjunction with the Open Weather Map API database, allows for the application to find the weather for that current location, as well as other information such as the temperature and a short description of the weather. Once the application has all of this information it will load the second page which contain of all the UI elements, set out in an easy to read manner.

What is it for?

The main two aims for the project are to display the current weather in a unique and easy to read way, while also displaying a music video directly related to the weather e.g. Weather = Clear sky, Song = Johnny Nash - I Can See Clearly Now. The application would be for a user looking for an easy to use weather application, that also has a fun side with the built in song player.

How do you use it?

The application is very easy and simple to use, featuring only two main screens with a simple UI, screen animations and stylized graphics. Making sure the devices location and internet services are turned on, open up the application and wait for the first page to gain the latitude and longitude, this can take up to 5 minutes depending on the device but is usually sooner than this. From here the application will load the second/main page of the application which is stylized in a retro pixel style. This page will display all of the relevant information such as the video, temperate, weather icon and description.
