ALIEN ADVENTURE 2: BACK IN BLACK
So there I was at the start of university, with no prior programming knowledge (apart from some very small amounts of HTML in college). Processing was one of the first platforms I used at university, and was actually the basis of many first year projects. One of the projects was to create some sort of Tamagotchi-type game with the usual eat/ sleep/play functions and so on; this project was okay but didn’t ask for much, so when the second brief came around in my Computational Thinking module, I knew I could expand on my original work, and this is when Alien Adventure 2: BACK IN BLACK was born!

The sequel (the better one in this case) was quite a challenge, but I really enjoyed my first real taste of game creation, especially the art work. Using Photoshop to create a number of different assets for my assignment was amazing and really allowed me to get creative with the project. On top of this I was able to add other features such as a Mini game (a sort of ‘collect the meteorite’ thing, it’s hard to relate real things to alien humor), pets for my pets (imagine the Tamagotchi had a pet Tamagotchi) and an individual control system from both GlibGlob and Nukem (amazing names, I know). As mentioned the project was compiled using only processing/Photoshop and illustrator (for the drawings), over the span of just under 6 weeks.
